Tommy James and the Shondells (also known simply as The Shondells; initially as Tom and the Tornadoes in 1962) are a great American classic rock band formed in Niles, Michigan in 1964. They are best known for a string of hits released during the 1960s, among which, most notably, Hanky Panky (1966), Crimson and Clover (1968), or Crystal Blue Persuasion (1969). They have been performing continuously since 1964 (though with several line-up changes throughout the passage of time). In 2008, the band was inducted into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame.

Between 1966 and 1970, the band released 8 studio albums as follows (all of them through Roulette Records):
- Hanky Pranky (1966)
- It’s Only Love (1967)
- I Think We’re Alone Now (1967)
- Gettin’ Together (1967)
- Mony Mony (1968)
- Crimson & Clover (1969)
- Cellophane Symphony (1969)
- Travelin’ (1970)
Their highest-charting studio album was Crimson & Clover, peaking at number 8 in the US Billboard 200 chart. The group also released 8 compilations and 22 singles. Their music was influential enough to be carried in the 1980s in covered form by artists such as Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Tiffany Dawish, and Billy Idol. Below you can listen to two of my favourite songs from their discography embedded via YouTube, more specifically the very beautiful and touching Crimson and Clover and Crystal Blue Persuasion respectively. Thank you very much for your time, attention, and readership! All the best and rock on!
