My Musical Education And Evolution

My musical education started at a very young age as a kid in the Romanian public education system during the mid- to late 2000s. I was fortunate enough to have great music teachers who taught me (and other pupils) the essentials regarding music notation and music theory (aspects for which I am deeply grateful to this day). I distinctly recall the fact that the first book which got me into guitar learning and training was Learn to Play the Guitar: A Beginner’s Guide to Playing Accoustic and Electric Guitar by Phil Capone (which is a marvellous literary resource for anyone who wishes to start playing on a six-string, regardless if it’s an acoustic guitar or an electric one; by the way, ideally, you should have both, it’s so much fun this way). My mom bought this book to me when I was still an early teenager (more specifically at some point during the early 2010s, in 2011 if I’m not mistaken) and I still have it (and use it) to this very day! I am very grateful to her for this gift!

Subsequently, after graduating from high school in 2016, I pursued a one-year study programme as an assistant sound engineer and audio technician at a local college in Bucharest, Romania, more specifically at Edmond Nicolau Technical College (graduating in 2017). Later on, I had been basically a self-taught amateur guitarist for a couple of years as I started my BSc studies in media technology in Aalborg, Denmark at Aalborg University (AAU), playing on guitar being my most favourite past time activity or hobby (and still is as such to this very day, undoubtedly). Consequently, I spent a lot of my free time after university learning and experimenting with a wide variety of chords and notes (in my student dorm room, naturally), initially on my acoustic Harley Benton in 2018 then also on an electric Harley Benton six-string model since 2019. After I moved back to my hometown, Suceava, I also bought a Fender Squier bass as well as a ukulele (more specifically back in 2022).

During my time spent in Denmark, I also played a little bit on the keyboard, more specifically on an Alesis model. Since 2018 onwards, I’ve been using Yousician as well, a great Finnish application for aspiring musicians in which you can learn to play on guitar, bass, keyboards, or ukulele. Users can complete levels representing their level of proficiency on these musical instruments (after passing these levels, they are awarded a diploma for each level). Moreover, you can also learn how to sing. Last but not least, back in 2021 I also passed a course on Coursera offered by the Berkley College of Music: https://www.coursera.org/account/accomplishments/verify/ZCGDY5X4EJZP.

My Music Business Foundations course diploma offered by the prestigious Berklee College of Music on Coursera.

Metallica Riff Life certificate of completion which I received after I completed the Riff Life course on guitar in Yousician in 2024.

Below you can also listen to an episode of the Aware Panel podcast via Apple Podcasts in which I am discussing my musical influences and experiences (with some minor inaccuracies on my behalf, my bad):

Last but not least, you can also read an article about me in the local Romanian-language press of my hometown, more specifically on the website of the oldest radio station in my hometown, Suceava in Romania, more specifically Radio TOP (established in 1993). The respective article was published way back in 2021 when I was still 24.

Thank you very much for stopping by as well as for your time and attention! All the best and rock on! 🙂 🤘
