Weather Report’s Greatest Hits (A Must Listen Fan-Made Compilation)

For all those long time, committed, and sturdy jazz fusion fans out there, I dearly wanted to share the following great fan-made compilation of Weather Report’s ‘Greatest Hits’ by JazzMusic on Youtube. This is a great unofficial greatest hits compilation by one of the most finest jazz fusion bands that was ever active on the face of this Earth, more specifically Weather Report, which not only pioneered this complex and fascinating genre of music but also pushed its limits to the zenith through improvisation, originality, delicacy, refinement, and elegance.

Joe Zawinul (keyboards) and Wayne Shorter (saxophone) were the band’s constant members throughout the 16 year existence of the American musical group (more specifically from 1970 up until 1986) along with its many line-up shifts (especially with respect to the drummers, but also to bassists), but it is equally important to mention the massive contributions of musical genius and legendary, revolutionary innovator Jaco Pastorius on bass throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s.

At that time, the line-up of the band consisted of the following: Joe Zawinul on keyboards, Wayne Shorter on saxophone, Jaco Pastorius on bass guitar, Peter Erksine on drums, and Bobby Thomas Jr. on percussion. The following fan-made compilation includes live versions of some of the best songs from the entire discography of Weather Report. The photograph of the Youtube video depicts Weather Report during their late 1970s-early 1980s line-up, consisting of Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius, and Peter Erskine (drums) standing near the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia.

Therefore, that being said and without any further needless ado or unwanted spoilers on my behalf (other than the tracklist, of course), I wholeheartedly recommend listening to the following amazing, albeit unofficial, compilation of greatest hits by one of the most finest jazz fusion bands of the 20th century which inspired and will continue to inspire generations of prospective musicians to keep on listening to this particular genre of music, play music, and enjoy life to the fullest! Enjoy and have a most delightful, relaxing audition in the musical company of the stupendous Weather Report!
